As autumn arrives, many Japanese food restaurants and shops offer new specialties with seasonal ingredients, including potatos, pumpkins and mushrooms.
I had one of them, a Mushroom Cheese Burger with Porcini Cream Sauce at Freshness Burger.
Who is Freshness Burger?
Freshness Burger is run by a Japanese Company but each branch has an old-American atmosphere. Because of the atmosphere, some people think that Freshness Burger was run by an American company.
Freshness Burger is one of top five burger chain restaurants in Japan, including McDonald’s, Mos Burger, KFC and Lotteria.

According to their brand story on their website, to create a store that conveys the warmth of handmade items, they wanted to offer burgers made with fresh ingredients that prioritize people’s health.
With the desire to avoid a standardized and boring store, they began to meticulously craft their burgers. The buns are handcrafted using a special recipe that incorporates pumpkin. The potato side dish is made by cutting and frying potatoes in-store. Juice is freshly squeezed in front of you using fruits. Other vegetables are also fresh, and they have carefully selected spices from around the world to allow customers to choose according to their preferences, ensuring that they complement our fresh products.
Enjoying everyday luxuries in nearby places*
As a “burger cafe where adults can relax,” it has gained fans nationwide. In 2015, “Freval” was introduced, offering draft beer, wine, and prosciutto, and became a popular store where you can enjoy evenings and nights. Special menus such as “Bakery” and “Gelato” are also offered exclusively at certain stores, expanding its range as a place where you can enjoy good food and a relaxing atmosphere.

Freshness Burger offers two specialities
From September 6th, 2023, Freshness Burger has been offering two limited-time mushrooms menu items: “Black Vinegar Sauce Burger with Fresh Thick Shitake Mushrooms” and “Mushroom Cheese Burger with Porcini Cream Sauce”. The former features the delightful taste of freshly picked thick shitake mushrooms, while the latter is a popular autumn classic.
I had a Mushroom Cheese Burger with Porcini Cream Sauce. There’s no way that mushrooms and cheese don’t go well together. A juicy handmade flavoured meat, mushrooms and cheese made a rich and creamy harmony. Grilled mushrooms and meat create a synergistic effect of deliciousness. To me, it is the best burger I ever had in recent years.
