Dandadan for Dumplings and Coriander Lovers in Japan

Dandadan ダンダダン is an Izakaya that offers dumplings and beer. It is a chain restaurant known for its high quality.

The menu at Dandadan includes a variety of flavorful food such as gyoza and basashi (horse meat), all made with fresh and flavorful ingredients. In addition, they also serve a set meal for lunch. With its vibrant atmosphere and delicious food, Dandadan spread its branches even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their menu is on their website.

The key highlight is their coriander salad. There is often a debate about whether coriander is delicious or not. However, for coriander lovers, Dandadan is a paradise. Their coriander salad is packed with an abundance of coriander, catering specifically to coriander enthusiasts.

Coriander is called “パクチー/pakutʃiː/“ in Japan. When you say “pakutʃiː salad”, they would understand what you want.

Today, I ordered their dumpling set meal and coriander salad for lunch. The set meal includes six dumplings, stock soup, rice, and a soft-boiled egg. It is a simple meal, but you can definitely taste its high-quality.

Dumplings can be eaten on their own without dipping sauce. The meat and stock juice are contained inside and they pair well with rice and egg. Even if you’re not a fan of raw eggs, their soft-boiled eggs are delicious. You might be pleasantly surprised by the combination of rice, dumplings, and boiled eggs. Also, if you are a coriander lover, you should eat the salad and the dumplings together.

However, it’s important to note that not all branches have the same level of quality. My recommendation is the Nishi-Nippori branch.
